Panthers Voter Campaign Poster

Panthers Voter Campaign Poster

"Panthers Voter Campaign Poster" is a social media campaign called Panthers Vote:
Why Vote in Waller County. Inspired by Antionette Carroll’s poster for AIGA Get Out the
Vote 2016 highlighted a method of voter suppression in the 1950s and 60s, I created 2
posters and a social media content poster. The target audience for the posters is the
student body. One poster will focus on highlighting a past voter suppression method
used against African-Americans throughout the history of this country. The second
poster will inform the students living on campus and the surrounding area on the
importance of voting in Waller County where they reside for 9 -12 months out of the
year.
The concept of my posters was taking a wanted poster, but flipping it into a ‘Unwanted’
poster that incorporates positive attributes but negative in the white mans eyes. I
wanted to do a play on words that grabs the audience of anyone that passes this
poster. Women Suffrage fought to allow women the right to vote. Although the woman
fought for equal rights its looked at a negative in the outsiders eyes. The Black
community viewed suffrage differently then the white community. White women knew it
was the battle against white men in power, but black women viewed their fight as part
of a community-wide goal for the entire Black community.
